Naturactor Powder Foundation

I am super excited to share this product review I made about this magnificent powder foundation I recently tried and became part of my make-up kit. One of the famous foundation in the market is the Naturactor Powder Foundation. The first peculiar thing I noticed from this Naturactor Powder Foundation is the packaging. I really love it's box and how white and clean the container is.

The powder is very fine and feels very light when applied, and blends well but this settles quickly. I was afraid that it might look too blotchy on my dry skin but amazingly it did a good job of even-ing out my skin. This has a semi matte finish. It feels lightweight and lasts on my face longer than I expected. Whenever I use this Naturactor Powder Foundation, I just do minimal touch ups.

It is available in 5 shades:
  • #230 Lightest shade for the naturactor powder foundation. Its suitable for pale or dull skin, once applied it will create a rosy effect on skin.
  • #240 Second lightest shade but slightly deeper color than the 230, suitable for light skin tone
  • #243 suitable for fair to medium skin tone. Provides a natural effect on the skin.
  • #250 medium to dark coverage.
  • #252 Darkest coverage
I got the shade in #240, it is suitable for those who have fair, pale looking skin like mine. It gives a rosy effect on my skin, making it younger looking and more vibrant.

It took me a while before I decided to do a review about this product, honestly at first, I have mixed feelings on this product. I'm grateful I did tried this product, for me, this is the best foundation that I have ever tried and I honestly love it. I am willing to spare my money for this because every penny worth the result of this product.

Thank you for reading!

Pangea Organics – planting the seeds for great skin

How does one man’s dream to create an institute centered on educating large corporations about sustainable, environmentally and socially conscious business practices relate to skin care? When you’re Joshua Onysko, the visionary behind Pangea Organics, it all makes perfect sense.
Onysko’s desire to create global change by changing the ways of big companies inspired the idea for such an institute, and his way of funding the project was by making thoughtfully crafted skin care products. The handmade soaps he created in his garage became so popular that it lead to a fully fledged business. His company, Pangea Organics, is a multi award winning brand, now encompassing a full line of products that are natural, organic, fair trade when possible, cruelty free and free of parabens, GMOs, petroleum, sulfates or detergents, synthetic preservatives or artificial colors or fragrances. As well as committed to its promise to “Accentuate the positive. Eliminate the negative.” And while part of the proceeds go to help build Onysko’s Pangea Institute, they also help fund Women for Women International, a non-profit organization dedicated to regaining support and an improved life for women affected by war and conflict throughout the world.
I tested two Pangea products, one which has made a dramatic difference in my skin. First up, the Pyrenees Lavender with Cardamom Bar Soap($8). Made with essential oils and cold-pressed organic oils, the bar soap is light, gentle and contains whole seeds, providing a natural way to exfoliate. My skin felt smooth and moisturized without any residue. The lavender soothes, heals and relieves tension while the cardamom acts as an antiseptic, cleanses and invigorates. I adore lavender so I found the scent refreshing and calming, yet not overpowering.
While I loved the soap, my favorite part was actually the packaging…
All Pangea products are printed on recycled post-consumer paper with soy based inks, list every ingredient used and are covered with interesting information, inside and out. But this Pangea Bar Soap is by far the most brilliant packaging I’ve seen. Using zero-waste molded fiber boxes, the outer strip of paper can be recycled while the actual box, embedded with seeds, can be planted! How often can you say product packaging leaves you with something beneficial instead of just waste?
I also tested the Himalayan Geranium & Pomegranate Balancing Oil ($50). Inside this demure brown bottle, promising a natural elixir to rejuvenate and nourish every skin type, is one of THE most amazing skin care products I have ever used. I was extremely doubtful that rubbing oil on my face would actually help. In fact that seems like the one thing you should not do to your skin. But after just the first week of use, with a mere 1-2 drops every day, my skin literally transformed!
As someone who is transitioning out of her twenties into her thirties, I’ve noticed significant changes in the condition and appearance of my skin. The balancing oil’sfatty acids, vitamins and the key ingredient; pomegranate seed oil which is rich in antioxidants that repair and encourage collagen growth, left my skin feeling soft, moisturized and supple. I was shocked at how the oil evened out my skin tone, got rid of redness and gave my skin an unbelievable youthful glow. It’s quick absorbing, won’t leave you feeling greasy and has a light, earthy smell thanks to the geranium. While $50 for 1 fl. oz. bottle may seem a tad pricey, you only need a small amount. It’s been over two weeks and I’ve not made a dent in the bottle. Plus it works. It works really, really well. My skin has not looked this healthy in years! If anyone asked me what is one product they must have in their skin care regime, Pangea’s Balancing Oil is definitely it.
I can’t wait to see if my fellow reviewers fared as well with their Pangea products. Make sure you check the comments where they be leaving their reviews on the French Chamomile (with Sweet Orange and Lavender) Lotion ($18) meant to soothe dry skin and help circulation; and the Canadian Pine with White Sage Foaming Hand Soap ($14) made with organic coconut, olive, hemp and jojoba oils to cleanse and moisturize without detergents, dyes or perfumes.

Biotherm Rides Repair

Biotherm has a new line of products out called Rides Repair. They are anti-aging products for the over-35 set.
There’s a serum that’s lovely and light, and the creams a lovely and thick.
My favourite product though is the Biotherm Rides Repair Instant Polish. It’s a super-creamy scrub that has a lot of scrubbing particles in it, which means that it works but doesn’t dry out your skin!
Use this scrub if you’ve got dry skin that’s flaking a little. You’ll be able to get rid of the flakiness without sacrificing the quality of your skin. All that’s left behind is smooth soft skin which is just what you want.

Lisap C-Glos

A couple of weeks ago, I headed to a salon downtown and had the Lisap C-Gloss treatment put in my hair. It’s colour-free though it does seem to have a tint because my grey hairs are less noticeable and my hair seems to be a pretty uniform colour.
The treatment took 20 minutes to set, and then was washed out gently. It really did make my hair look a lot shinier and the whole time it was in my hair, I didn’t have to put any shine spray in it.
Lisap is an Italian brand of hair colour and their C-Gloss is a new product. Many salons carry the hairdye and are familiar with it so if they don’t carry the C-Gloss, ask them to!
The gloss lasts in your hair for 2 to 5 washes, and I’m finding that even on the 6th wash my hair is pretty darn shiny. I highly recommend it for special occasions or as an extra boost when you don’t want to colour your hair but want it to look nice.

MAC Dazzle lipsticks, they aren’t kidding!

In the midst of all the dark fall collections that have been popping up, MAC is reminding us it’s still summer! And I have two collections to prove just that, Dare to Wear and the fabulous Digi Dazzle Lipsticks. I, for one, say hooray!
These 13 limited edition lipsticks are exactly what I’m craving right now; sparkling and yes, dazzling color to carry me through the end of summer. Not that I can’t see wearing these through the cold months too, but to me glitter equals fun. And fun equals summer.
I will admit, while I am a fan of glitter on the lips, these didn’t do much for me just viewing them in the bullet. I think it’s my habit of looking to gloss whenever I want some action that led me to think “I’ve got lip gloss for this, why do I need glitter lipstick?” Oh, but getting these on my lips was a whole other story…
With these, you get the flash of a glimmery gloss, with the staying power of a lipstick. We’re not talking just a smattering of glitter either. These are bursting with glitter (see photo evidence!) Pure wall to wall glitter. But be prepared for it to migrate, I looked like I was making out with a disco ball after swatching these. Surprisingly the lipsticks feel less gritty than you’d expect. But don’t go in hoping for silky smooth, they’re not.
Plus, these are real chameleons. All three looked better on my lips than in the bullet. What a great surprise!
Liquid Lurex is a sheer gold with silver and a shape-shifter sort of glitter than transforms from fuschia to copper depending on how you are looking at it. Next to impossible to capture in a photo; in mine it looks gold in the tube, and kind of nude on my lips. But in person, you get a gold that flashes pink. This blurry swatch shows you the brilliance of the glitter. This is unlike any shade I’ve ever owned and is like a party in a tube (or preferably, on your lips!)
For a more subtle, but no less beautiful look, I adore Wham, a plummy brown with gold and a bit of the same shape-shifter glitter described above. I can see reaching for this a lot in the fall, as it’s warm but still fun. Check out a full face look with it on my Dare to Wear post.
Lastly, Naughty You is a bright, almost bubble gum medium pink with a ton of pink glitter. MAC describes it as neon, and I’m with them on that. It’s like Barbie’s disco-date-pink. Not a color I’d reach for, but surprisingly wearable with my warm-toned skin.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief

I have to say this.
Clinique makes some of the best basic moisturizers in the market. By basic I mean that if you just want something that takes care of dry skin, you should head over to the Clinique counter. If you want something that gets rid of wrinkles, makes you look younger, takes away the bags under your eyes, does your hair, picks your kids up from school, and gets dinner on the table by 6:30, then maybe look elsewhere.
But as far as basic moisturizers go, Moisture Surge Extended Relief will do you a solid. It’ll get rid of dry skin and make sure it stays away by putting a kind of coating on your skin. You won’t know it’s there during the day, but when you go to wash it off, you’ll feel it being dissolved away by your moisturizer. Pretty powerful stuff, it is, and all in a light gel base that makes everyone happy. Check this out at your Clinique counters – go for the bonus, but stay for this moisturizer.

Product Body Sugarfoot Scrub

My scrub review continues today with a look at the Product Body Sugarfoot Foot Scrub. If you haven’t tried anything by Product Body you really must. The products are made by hand and fresh, and they have a small number of ingredients in them which makes them truly fantastic because it means that you don’t just get a cream with a bit of shea butter in them, you get a cream that’s mostly shea butter!
Sugarfoot, like other Product Body products, is an excellent formulation. It’s thick but it foams a little when it hits your wet skin making a thick cream that’s rich and moisturizing while letting you exfoliate at the same time. Unlike most scrubs, it doesn’t wash off before you’re ready for it too, but it does wash cleanly and leaves your feet amazingly smooth and moisturized.
